Enjoyed Afternoon Tea
High tea, a term often confused with afternoon tea, usually takes the place of supper. During the Industrial Revolution, working class families would return home tired and exhausted. The table would be set with dinner foods like meat, bread, butter, potatoes, cheese and of course tea. It was termed "high tea" because it was eaten at a high dining table rather than a low tea table.
Afternoon tea (because it was usually taken in the late afternoon) is also called "low tea" as it is served at a low table. Since this wasn't a meal, but rather like a late afernoon snack meant to stave off hunger, finger foods were the common fare. Tiny, dainty sandwiches, scones and pastries were served with afternoon tea. Finger foods afforded one the opportunity to take a petite bite and easily maintain a conversation. This is most improtant, as one is not merely taking tea to gain nourishment or satisfy hunger, but to take time to relax, converse and enjoy the company of dear friends. In England, the traditional time for tea was four o'clock or five o'clock in the afternoon and no one stayed after seven o'clock.Labels: afternoon tea |

Chrysanthemum Tea Flower Tea

Chrysanthemum Tea Flower Tea is a kind of beverages. When I'm sipping chrysanthemum tea,to me, it tastes like spring. Not the spring of torrential downpours or hay fever or sandstorms in Beijing and Mongolian. It's the first days of season's transition, when people walking on the street are smiling to each other, the ugly jacket is shoved back into storage, and eating lunch outdoors seems like putting the ecstasy back into your relationship with nature. It seems that these days are fitting with tshirt-and-light-jacket weather.
Chrysanthemum tea is actually a tisane, or herbal tea. Instead of using tea leaves, herbal brews extract flavor from flowers, herbs, fruit, and grains. The little flowers' color are from white to pale yellow to bright yellow. You can use a pot or a cup, because blooming flowers floating in water is a bit more photogenic than tea leaves, restaurants sometimes present it in a big glass teapot. It is also served with a dish of sugar candy, or rock candy; just one or two cubes can brings out the slight sweetness in this mellow tea.
